The Playstation 2 is a hugely successful games console which gave a huge step forward in the standards of games and graphics but with this came the need for more information to be stored and so a new standard in memory card was needed from Sony too but have they delivered?
Pros:
The original Playstation used memory cards which used blocks for storage which led to the information and data transfer taking time to transfer but thankfully the PS2 memory cards are much improved. The cards use flash storage and so it means that rather than needing to use multiple blocks and sometimes having to write a full block even though only a small part was needed these ones now store information in organising and storing information in much the same way as the MP3 players, digital cameras and more.
The PS2 memory cards have a much improved transfer rate when compared to the original Playstation cards and in fact reach speeds for data transfer of 200 times faster.
The memory cards look great in black and when inserted in the PS2 console look great as they match together so well. The cards sit in the console comfortably and you need not worry about them slipping out no matter what.
These are a great value product as they can be purchased for about £5-£10 and so you can set these aside for certain games (for example I had a memory card specifically for the Grand Theft Auto series) and purchase more as you go rather than delete information when you aren’t ready to do it.
The memory cards are easy to manage as you just log in to the card from the console and you can then delete, copy and format files with ease.
Negatives:
None
The 8GB memory card from Sony offers up a great data transfer rate and storage for plenty of saved games without the need to have a million and one cards laying around. Easily managed files means that you can copy, format and delete with ease through your console. The high speed data transfer thanks to flash memory usage means that you can save or load information quicker and easier than ever. I have been very impressed with the quality of these memory cards as they feel well built and like they are made to last and so even with their cheap price you needn’t worry about losing your information once you have it sroted on these.
Summary: A well designed and made piece of kit and a giant step forward when compared to the originals
